Gift Hamper Workshop With Sharjah Art Foundation

Inspired by Emirati women’s historical tradition of gifting their loved ones a ‘starter kit’ for Ramadan, participants will create their own Ramadan gift hampers using a wide range of spices, herbs, oils and fabrics from Souq Saqr in Sharjah Art Foundation neighbourhood.
Prayer Carpet Embroidery Workshop With Sharjah Art Foundation
June 5th 9 pm – 11 pm
Participants will recognise differences in carpets from around the world. They will study carpet patterns and colours to create a sketch for a mini-carpet they will produce using basic carpet-making techniques.
Book Reading with Alia Al Shamsi

Join us for an evening of readings, perfect for families and children of all ages with Alia Al Shamsi. An internationally published photojournalist, Al Shamsi's photography has been exhibited around the world, holding awards including: EDAAD Scholarship 2007, British Council Cultural Leadership International 2010 and 2011 Emirates Woman Artist of the Year. Al Shamsi’s recently published book Alayah has been awarded the support from Dubai Culture part of their printing and publishing movement “Reading in Arabic Challenge”.
Eid Card Workshop

This #RamadanNights workshop at #RiseDCH is an introduction to relief printing using lino. Using geometric patterns and designs as inspiration, the surface of the lino is cut and carved into to create indents, texture and other types of mark making using specific carving tools. Established in 2008 by Lateefa bint Maktoum, Tashkeel is a contemporary art organisation based in Dubai committed to facilitating art and design practice, creative experimentation and cross-cultural dialogue.

Islamic Pattern Workshop With Sharjah Art Foundation

This course will focus on traditional Islamic patterns. Participants will create geometric and biomorphic designs using traditional tools and methods. They will also learn about the different types of patterns and their origins, only at our #RamadanNights workshop at #RiseDCH.
